Welcome to Ghost Towns of Arizona and Surrounding States
A ghost town is a completely abandoned or semi-abandoned town or city. A ghost town occurs because the economic activity that supported the town or city has failed due to natural or human-caused disasters such as a flood, government action, uncontrolled lawlessness, or war. The term is sometimes used in a deprecated sense to include cities, towns, and neighborhoods which, while still populated, are significantly less so than in years past. Some ghost towns may have become overgrown, difficult to access, dangerous, and/or illegal to visit.
