Ghost Towns, Castle Dome, Arizona

Castle Dome Mine Museum
We visited castle dome city a mining ghost town just north of Yuma Arizona. The collection of vintage items that date back to the mining days is unbelievable. it's got to be one of the biggest collections I've ever seen in one place with over 50 buildings to walk through. Well worth the ten dollar admission price to get in. This place has it all, a bank, a complete hotel with bar, general store, barber shop, repair shop, dentist office and much more. Every building is decorated giving you a true life feel of how daily life would have been like in the 1800s.

Some Relics and furniture displayed in the buildings were found around the property and in some of the 360 caves in the area. There are over 15 miles of underground passages inside the mines. I spoke with Allen Armstrong as he gave me a tour throughout the property. He mentioned some relics and furniture were donated and a few missing items were purchased online.

The mining began in 1862 and was a productive site until 1978 when the last mine closed. The Armstrong's have collected and restored more than 20 old buildings that were once part of the Castle Dome Mining District, a former major silver producer.

This is a must see destination that will take you back in time.
